Why do we partner with our clients?
Because the best team is the one with the client in it.
Because it helps us give our undivided attention to the client.
Because it helps us focus on our clients’ objectives.
Each of our services has stemmed from anticipating and addressing our clients’ needs.
That’s why our partnerships with our clients work so well!
Where have we been?
The journey from being a software and data capture establishment to a full service provider to the publishing industry has enriched us, both with experience and expertise.
Who do we partner with?
Today, Laserwords caters to the world’s most reputed publishers of academic books, journals, and encyclopedias in the U.S., UK, and Europe.
How are we different?
Through quality.
Through attention to detail.
By adopting a self-reinforcing process of constant improvement.
Through continuous implementation of feedback.
Complexity and turnaround time are never a problem. We can ramp up with short notice to meet seemingly impossible deadlines.
That’s how we are different!
When do employee relations make a difference?
When everyone works together as a team.
When everyone multitasks.
When employees are empowered to drive processes — from administration to production.
Laserwords has an attrition rate of 2% — the lowest in the industry.
That can only happen when employee relations make a difference!
Where do a company’s objectives emerge?
From the client’s requirements.
Quality products in collaboration with the client.
We are constantly expanding our range of services to fulfill our clients’ needs. No request is too trivial or too grand.
Isn’t that proof enough that our objectives emerge from our clients?
How We Do It
Systems
Our production processes keep costs low, schedules tight, and quality high. These processes are designed for flexibility and self-correction, including modular workflows for every step, and error-tracking, review, and assessment at key points.
Tools
Laserwords has always had a work culture that emphasizes efficiency through automation. In all aspects of work at our production facilities, whether for production, conversion, quality control, or even internal administration, operators and managers work with our software team to achieve the required output with as little manual intervention as possible.
Our tools range widely in scope: a database-driven workflow management system handles all of our production tracking, invoicing, and HR; various authoring tools enable easy authoring of content and tests; sets of scripts automate application and PDF file creation processes; a customized interface coupled with an extensive array of databases streamlines copyediting, permitting a level of consistency and quality that otherwise would not be possible; elaborate scripts within illustration programs access databases to vet files against predefined specifications and trap errors that a human cannot detect on screen or in a printed proof. Our constantly growing list of tools is too long to enumerate in greater detail here.
Most of our tools and scripts are used by our production teams, but some of our tools, most notably our authoring tools, are used directly by our customers. We have a range of quickly customizable authoring solutions to facilitate transparent, automated tagging, and a corresponding suite of programs to transform the resulting structured content into print, media, or web products.
